The best free plant-care app in 2026
Most plant apps are free to download and charge for the best parts. Petunia is free, with no subscription. Here is what each app gives you, so you can pick the one that fits how you care for plants.
How we compared
- What you pay, and what the store listing says costs extra.
- Which phones it runs on.
- Reminders, plant ID and help with plant problems.
The short list
- Petunia. Best if you want a free care record and answers about your own plants, on Android.
- PictureThis. Best if naming plants from a photo is the main job.
- Planta. Best if you want care reminders that plan your week.
- Greg. Best if you want free plant scans and a plant community.
